Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Projects Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical and electrical projects within our client’s organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of M&E projects, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, quality control, and stakeholder management. This role requires a strong technical background in mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as excellent project management skills.
Main deliverables of the M&E Projects Manager include but are not limited to:
1. Project Planning:
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Identify resource requirements, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
- Define project budget and monitor expenditures to ensure projects stay within budgetary constraints.
2. Execution and Monitoring:
- Oversee the execution of M&E projects, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Monitor project progress and address any issues or delays promptly.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect workmanship, safety practices, and quality standards.
3. Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective communication between all parties involved in M&E projects.
- Address stakeholder concerns or requests in a timely and professional manner.
4. Procurement and Supply Chain Management:
- Coordinate procurement activities, including sourcing vendors, obtaining bids, and negotiating contracts.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate material shipments to project sites as needed.
5. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Implement quality control measures to ensure M&E projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
- Address any non-conformities or deficiencies promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary.
6. Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members to foster professional growth and development.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and innovation.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or relevant experience.
- Proven experience (10 years) in project management, particularly in the mechanical and electrical engineering field.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and power distribution.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading project teams to achieve project objectives.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in project management software tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PE (Professional Engineer) are a plus.
