Electrical Controls Engineer
Salary up to £50,000 per annum, Permanent role, Monday to Friday 39 hours per week flexible start and finish times, option for hybrid working 1 or 2 days a week, 33 days holiday (increasing with service), pension.

This specialist manufacturer in Bristol has an exciting opportunity for a Electrical Engineer, controls engineer, controls and automation engineer to join their expanding team. Reporting to the line manager, this role will be responsible for developing new and existing panels to compliance standards.

The electrical Engineer, controls engineer, controls and automation engineer role will involve:

  • Developing new and existing panels whilst ensuring company compliance to all applicable and relevant BS EN and European standards as well as CE/UKCA marking
  • Assisting Engineering and Production departments with control panel revisions, software changes, electrical drawings, and document control
  • Assisting with product development and R & D requirements, plus supporting existing control panels in the field, with the occasional need to provide on-site support to the Service Department
  • Producing drawings both electrical schematic and mechanical layouts, PLC programmes, and HMI designs
  • BoM creation and review
  • Control of drawing and model revisions through Autodesk Vault and the drawing register
  • Issuing the correct drawing revisions through drawing requests
  • Producing risk assessments (EN 60204) and safety performance level analysis (EN 13849) for new products to identify potential failure points, mitigating risk and assess parts or systems that may need changing.
  • Producing and contributing towards technical documentation and system instructions:
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure OEM control equipment used on products are fit for purpose and offers the correct solution.
  • Keeping up to date with market and industry trends and new technologies

The successful electrical Engineer, controls engineer, controls and automation engineer will likely have an electrical or related degree with control systems and automation knowledge, the ability to interpret and design electrical circuits, and competency with the Autodesk suite of programs including AutoCad and AutoCad Electrical (knowledge of Vault would be advantageous but not essential).

electrical Engineer, controls engineer, controls and automation engineer skills and Experience:

  • Experience working on projects relating to designing control systems used within electrical engineering applications
  • Design, implementing and troubleshooting control systems for automation processes, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, HMI (Human-Machine Interface) development, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
  • A degree or HNC/HND or equivalent qualifications in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field would be suitable for this role.
  • Industrial Communications (EthernetIP, EtherCAT, Profinet, MODBUS etc.)
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance: Diagnosing and resolving electrical and control system issues, conducting preventive maintenance activities, and optimizing system performance.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Risk assessment experience
  • Knowledge of ISO9001
  • Experience in compliance and the Machinery Directive
