Purpose of The Role

Take responsibility for the delivery, growth and execution of the Commercial and Quantity Surveying function on allocated project(s), within limits defined by the Commercial Director, to fulfil the requirements of the Company in maximising quality of service and profitability. Whilst ensuring that all relevant Company Procedures and Policies are met.

Can be based, London, Manchester or Northampshire.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities

• Actively promote health and safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and

ensuring awareness of and compliance with general health and safety responsibilities

• Consider Safety, Health, and Environment for every task. Work to the company SHE Basics, Training and Competence, Risk Assessment for every task, Induction for every worker, Safe System of Work and Point of Work Risk Assessment

• Establish Commercial Strategy and Framework for the project(s) and agree, amend, and monitor the effectiveness this with the (Construction) Director/Commercial Director

• Set up, manage & maintain necessary systems to efficiently file and retrieve information and allow others to do likewise. Archive old project material. All to be in line with group commercial standards.

• Oversee and in some cases manage hands on all aspects of Subcontractor accounts, including full procurement processes.

• Prepare or manage the preparation of all interim valuations and final accounts plus management of change control.

• Compile monthly applications for payment to Client and track the certification and cash balances

• Prepare & present accurate monthly CVR and forecast reports, input & present MBR and QBR packs. Compile & present cash flow forecasts as required.

• Compile Project specific commercial issues for reporting and presentation at Client progress

meetings

• Compile, submit and agree the financial effects of variations

• Manage a commercial team with particular interest in learning and development opportunities

Have a detailed understanding of contact conditions, particularly relating to:

o Obligations of parties to the contract

o Valuations of variations

o Payment / Final Account

• Work with the project operational staff to ensure that the profitable and commercial aspects of site decisions are understood.

• Support the operations and site teams in jointly ensuring the working environment is one of trust, integrity, motivation, and enjoyment.

Essential Requirements

Relevant qualifications – degree level, or equivalent

Chartered or working towards chartership.

Full driving license

Must be flexible in hours of work and travel.

Good leadership and interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Proactive approach to work.

Experience in a similar role.

Strong organisational skills.
