Generator Controls Engineer

You will play a pivotal role within the Generator Service team, being the go-to expert for controls related matters and providing training and guidance for more junior members of staff. Splitting your time evenly between working at the head office and out on site.

Job Purpose

You will be responsible for diagnosing and undertaking the repair and maintenance of diesel generators (standby sets) and their control systems whilst providing support and guidance to the wider service team.

What’s on offer:

• £40,000 - £45,000 basic.
• 39-hour working week, Monday – Friday.
• Overtime at 1.5x and 2x pay.
• 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays.
• Company van – with optional personal usage.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Act as a Technical Lead Engineer for the service department.

• Prepare RAMS and work packs as required.
• Perform modifications and upfits of control systems.
• Conduct fault finding & diagnostics of control systems.
• Work with PLC & Motor Control Centers.
• Knowledge of synchronizing and mains paralleling to G-99.
• Read and understand control systems for fault finding.
• Assist in maintenance programs.
• Onsite maintenance and repair of generating sets.
• Workshop repair and maintenance of generating sets and control systems.

Desirable Qualifications/Skills:

• Experience with ComAp control systems.
• CPCS Card.
• DBS/Disclosure Scotland Checks.
• HV Authorization/Awareness.
• NWH & DOMS 1-12.
• Asbestos Awareness.
• EUSR card.
