Job Title: Process Design Engineer
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting client requirements, developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to meet those requirements, provide cloth filter sizing information for sales purposes, and offering process support to the design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Requirements Interpretation:
- Conduct detailed discussions with clients to gather and understand their process needs.
- Document and clarify client requirements to ensure all aspects of the process are thoroughly understood.
- Translate client needs into technical specifications and process design criteria.
P&ID Development:
- Develop accurate and detailed Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) that meet client specifications and industry standards.
- Ensure P&IDs reflect all necessary process flows, control systems, and safety measures.
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to review and refine P&IDs, incorporating feedback and ensuring compliance with requirements.
Cloth Filter Sizing Information:
- Provide technical sizing information for cloth filters to support the sales team.
- Utilise knowledge of filtration processes and product specifications to recommend appropriate filter sizes and configurations.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation and presentations for client proposals.
Process Support to Design Team:
- Offer ongoing process support to the design team throughout the project life cycle.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving process-related issues that arise during design and implementation.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers and departments to ensure seamless integration of process designs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- Water industry experience - ideally waste
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in process design engineering or a related role.
- Proficiency in developing P&IDs using software such as AutoCAD, P&ID, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of process engineering principles, fluid dynamics, and control systems.
- Experience with filtration processes and cloth filter sizing is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Skills:
- Technical proficiency in process design and good knowledge of water and wastewater treatment plants
- Ability to interpret complex client requirements and translate them into actionable technical specifications.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with occasional site visits as required.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
