Job Role

The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the EHSS Manager. They will play a pivotal role in the maintenance of a smooth-running facilities management system for all UK locations.

The role is given a certain level of autonomy to manage the day-to-day work schedule providing all responsibilities are met to a high standard. A degree of flexibility of working hours is occasionally required in the event of unforeseen events. The role requires an elevated level of Organisational & Communication skills to ensure smooth and effective running of the Facilities Management System.

Duties

  • Maintain the Facilities PPM and Statutory Inspection System, to include conducting any simple inhouse PPM tasks, arranging contractors & service agreements, liaising with Landlords & carrying out regular reviews to ensure full EHSS compliance.
  • Plan and conduct facilities projects as required working alongside the relevant department

managers and contractors to ensure a smooth execution.

  • Maintain the Contractor Management System, to include obtaining and reviewing RAMS &

Insurance, using our online system to issue ATW & PTW and supervising contractors to

ensure safe working practices are upheld on site at all times.

  • Maintain the Facilities Service Request Log conducting any minor adhoc DIY type tasks &

arranging contractors for other larger requests.

  • Responding to emergencies to make the situation safe and where possible resolve such as in

the event of plumbing issues, water leaks, power outage etc. Arranging emergency

attendance of contractors if/when required.

  • Support the cleaning team with the correct tools and equipment to enable them to carry out

their work, arranging cover where required and acting as the team’s first point of contact.

  • Control waste management ensuring all waste is correctly disposed of, with correct

documentation held. Carry out regular reviews to ensure all waste channels used are the

most sustainable available.

  • Collect & input data into the Environmental dashboard monthly.
  • Plan and execute emergency response drills such as Spill response, fire evacuation and other Business continuity plans as directed by the EHSS Manager.
  • Arrange all EHSS Facilities related external training for staff such as FLT, First Aid & Fire Marshal Training etc.
  • Carry out regular review of applicable facilities risk assessments with advice and guidance from the EHSS Manager where required to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
  • Support the EHSS Manger to carry out an annual strategic review to analyse the performance of the Facilities Management System, set objectives and Capex budgets.
  • Responsibility for adhering to the Company’s ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental and

45001 Health and Safety management systems.

  • This position is part of the Business Continuity Emergency Response Team.

What you will need

  • Exceptional organisational & communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and external contractors.
  • Proficient level of computer literacy to include the ability to maintain and update computer records, use of MS Office skills (Word and Excel).
  • Pragmatic and professional manner with the ability to make clear and sensible decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to carry out minor DIY type tasks when required.
  • Good Knowledge and understanding of facilities systems to include plumbing and electrical work.
  • Due to the nature of the work qualification related to electrical work is highly desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of the importance of effective Environment, Health, Safety and Security Systems.
  • Previous experience of selecting and managing suppliers and contractors including obtaining quotes, raising POs, and obtaining RAMS etc for ATW & PTW Systems.
  • Previous experience maintaining effective PPM & Statutory Inspection systems.
  • Experience in managing small building projects.
  • Previous experience in waste management desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to use hand tools and equipment and operate in a safe and responsible manner is essential.
  • Work will include moving and lifting, working at height and candidates must therefore be physically fit as to fulfil these requirements.
  • Valid driving licence and vehicle is required for travel between sites.
