The Client

My client is a specialist provider in compliance testing, leak detection and defect diagnoses in buildings. Their knowledge of buildings, their environments, materials, and services, coupled with the latest diagnostic equipment allows them to efficiently identify problems. The company has a scientific and methodical approach which gives their clients an understanding of what the problem is so that we can advise on the right remedial solution before any works begin. The services that they provide are largely non-destructive so we can operate with minimal disruption. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a proven Business Development Manager to join their team.

Job Purpose

To achieve sales, marketing and business targets as directed and pro-actively identify and develop new customers across Greater London and the South East region, specifically targeting developers, property managers, contractors and estate managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • To achieve agreed sales and business objectives relating to targeted growth.
  • To assist in the development and implementation of the Sales and Marketing Plan for the products.
  • To regularly liaise with the Sales Manager, providing regular updates on progress and development, at the same time as highlighting any potential issues.
  • To develop key contacts at senior levels of major target organisations.
  • To make sales presentations to clients and work colleagues, as required.
  • To produce sales statistics and information on a weekly and ad hoc basis.
  • To attend regular internal and external Sales Team meetings.
  • To pro-actively manage existing, and develop new, customer relationships.
  • To attend Trade Exhibitions and Industry events as required.
  • To develop and maintain competitor and market knowledge.

Experience / Skills

  • A highly successful track record of setting and achieving sales targets.
  • Ideally from an insurance background or the construction industry.  
  • An in depth understanding of building defects and surveying including noise surveys, compliance testing, geospatial surveying and façade and glazing maintenance.
  • To assist in the development and implementation of sales and marketing plan for a wide range of services
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills
  • Good at problem solving.
  • Proven experience dealing with demanding clients at all levels.
  • Proven ability to persuade and influence.
  • Strong commercial and market awareness.
  • Be able to deliver presentations to small and large groups confidently.
  • Good knowledge of a CRM system
  • Full UK driving licence

The company are willing to offer a competitive salary in the region of £45,000 - £50,000 + strong benefits package including commission, pension and other flexible benefits.
