Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOE

About The Role
To complement our teams, continually develop new products and drive quality in our Manufacturing Facilities, we are inviting applications for the position of Mechanical Design Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, in this role you will have the responsibility of producing design and detailed drawings, together with written specifications, to enable manufacture of Company products, prototype components, and test fixtures.

Main Responsibilities:

• Produce accurate design, bill of materials, detailed drawings in accordance with international standards and company procedures, within agreed timescales.
• Be responsible for small and medium-sized engineering projects with minimal supervision.
• Regular consultation to progress larger size projects with other members of the team.
• Contribute to N.P.I. (New Product Introduction) projects, from concept to production handover.
• Ensure designs are functional, safe, and cost-effective, while maintaining the expected quality & QHSE standards.
• Implement changes to improve productivity, quality, and cost.
• Ensure technical files for new installations are complete in accordance with Machinery Directives.
• Maintain Design Office records in accordance with Company procedures.

Qualifications / Competencies:
Desirable:

• Minimum - Degree or HND/HNC in a relevant discipline (e.g. mechanical engineering)
• Proven experience within Mechanical design with design engineering background.
• Experience on aluminium and iron castings, sheet metal, close tolerance machining.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA), stress calculation, bearing system design.
• Good reporting and communication skills with project members & directors.

Preferred (but not essential):

• Chartered Engineering Qualification.
• Exposure to diesel engine & electric motor installations.
• Fluid dynamic and centrifugal pump design experience.
• Experience in plastic mouldings (rotational, injection & vacuum forming).
• Vault professional, AutoCad 2D & Autodesk Inventor.
