EHV Project Operations Manager


About the Role: Our client is seeking an experienced EHV Project Operations Manager to oversee power projects related to EHV/ICP contracts. This role involves managing the deployment of Test Engineers, Jointing Supervisors, and support staff to ensure quality assurance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage EHV projects, ensuring timely, incident-free delivery in compliance with policies and standards.
  • Collaborate with project and operational management to meet timelines and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain client and supply chain relationships, implementing cost-effective innovations.
  • Participate in tendering and estimation processes, providing technical support for bids.
  • Ensure technical competency in EHV systems and XLPE cables up to 400kV.
  • Oversee KPI recording and manage strategic stores and equipment calibration.
  • Complete project close-out data and reports.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • HNC/ONC in Power Engineering or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory).
  • City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 in Electrical Installation Works or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory).
  • CITB or SMSTS in site safety management.
  • CSCS card for management competency.
  • Experience with the electricity supply industry, including HV and EHV power cable systems up to 400kV.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Office Outlook.
  • Technical competency in EHV power engineering.


General Duties:

  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specifications.
  • Manage client relationships and highlight technical and commercial benefits.
  • Assist with project estimates and bid documentation.
  • Attend pre and post-tender meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ policies and conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Complete risk assessments and method statements.
  • Monitor health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
  • Conduct regular site visits and progress reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Collaborate on project sequencing and workforce planning.
  • Manage subcontractor work and contract-related issues.
  • Achieve targets, KPIs, and business goals.
  • Produce client reports and presentations.
  • Participate in recruitment and ensure training for direct reports.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports and authorise timesheets.
