Project Engineer

Job Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and commissioning of intralogistics and materials handling system projects for our clients. This includes conveyor systems, sortation systems, automated storage and retrieval systems, autonomous mobile robots, and associated control software.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work closely with sales, solutions design, and project management teams to understand client requirements and develop technical designs that meet specifications

- Manage the engineering design process from concept through detailed design, installation, testing, and commissioning

- Select and specify conveyor, sortation, robotics and other handling equipment to meet project needs 

- Design layout and flow of materials handling systems using simulation and CAD modeling tools

- Develop mechanical designs, electrical schematics, control systems architecture and programming

- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors and other internal teams to ensure successful project execution

- Develop test plans and procedures, perform testing, and troubleshoot issues during commissioning

- Ensure projects are implemented according to design specifications, safety standards and customer requirements

- Provide technical support and training to customers during implementation and after go-live

- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in system design and documentation

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or related engineering discipline

- 3-5 years of experience in materials handling system design and implementation

- Strong skills in CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), simulation (Flexsim, Witness) and programming (PLC, robot controllers) 

- Knowledge of conveyor components, sortation technologies, robotics and control systems

- Familiarity with industry standards, codes and safety regulations 

- Excellent problem-solving, multi-tasking and project management abilities

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
