Head of Mechanical Design

A world-renowned luxury automotive brand that has been crafting iconic, high-performance vehicles for over a century is currently seeking a Head of Mechanical Design. The successful candidate will lead the design and development of all in-house designed mechanical systems for E-Powertrain components and systems.
 
The Head of Mechanical Design will:
  • Support control strategy definition for the mechanical systems within the EDU.
  • Coordinate system and supplier comparison studies and evaluate RFQ responses to influence management decisions.
  • Support all Virtual Verification activities, including packaging, 1D & 3D analyses.
  • Work cross-functionally with other R&D departments to define EDU mechanical systems.
  • Engage and collaborate with wider team and external suppliers to deliver E-Powertrain.
  • Lead the team to develop multiple design solution options for evaluation to enable trade-off between various component attributes and their impact on the E-Powertrain system and overall vehicle performance.
 
The Head of Mechanical Design will have:
  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and/or related field.
  • High Voltage Live Working Qualification.
  • Experience of delivering E-Powertrain commodities from early R&D to series production through an automotive product creation system.
  • Knowledge of all relevant vehicle legislation and certification requirements for automotive EDU systems.
  • Excellent automotive powertrain mechanical integration knowledge.
  • Experience with CAD (NX, CATIA).
  • Strong teamwork skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
