Responsive Personnel are once again recruiting for one of our leading clients – this time for a NC Programmer based in their modern facilities in Swindon.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, the NC Programmer plays a pivotal role in the design and manufacturing process. 

Utilising CATIA V5 software, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and updating process documentation, generating manufacturing drawings, and developing NC process files to ensure efficient production processes. 

Key Duties:

  • Model component parts from 2D drawings using CATIA V5.
  • Prepare NC setup assemblies and develop NC process files. 
  • Design and manufacture fixtures for multi-axis component parts.
  • Establish Bill of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and planning for design realisation.
  • Perform full verification using predefined machine setup files or manual setup techniques. 
  • Debug CATIA NC programs and post-process to address errors reported from Vericut. 
  • Operate 5-axis machine tools with Heidenheim and Siemens control systems. 
  • Collaborate with machine tool technicians to create detailed process documentation. 

Required Education and / or Experience:

  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 fundamentals and Manufacturing from a Dassault Systems accredited source
  • Experience in fixture design, with a background in tool making preferred. 
  • Knowledge of cutting tool technology and suppliers. Familiarity with Siemens 840D and Heidenheim iTNC530/640 controls. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
  • Experience with Vericut 8-part modelling and detailing using CATIA V5 R27 software would be desirable. 
  • Preferably from an Aerospace, Automotive, Rail, Oil or Gas industry

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient using Catia V5 and Vericut.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. 
  • Ability to manage own workload effectively and meet deadlines. 
  • Adaptability to evolving project requirements.
  • This role involves long periods of sitting in front of a computer.
