Quality Inspector

The X-Cel Group are manufacturers of high specification component parts and assemblies, with HQ based in the national hub of engineering expertise – the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) S60 5FS, and at Bessemer Way, S60 1FB.  We are pleased to release the following new opportunity to expand the team – one person for each location;

Machine Shop Quality Inspector

You will play a crucial role within the business and will be encouraged to make improvements including quality control, modernisation and automation where possible.

Duties include –

-               Inspecting a range of small to large (Superturn) / medium to large (Vector) manufactured components

-               Managing inspection reports

-               Using a range of manual measuring equipment ie, micrometers, verniers, thread gauges

-               Carrying out first-off inspections at the machines

-               Programming use of CNC CMM machines and FARO arms

-               Completing computerised customer inspection reports

  • Calibration
  • Implement method/setting sheets for CMM programs
  • Oversee & investigate internal rejects through to completion
  • Manage customer witness inspection visits
  • Complete patrol inspections while CMM is running
  • Implement and learn offline CMM programming, develop the use of 3D models
  • Inspection plan for new jobs, checking we have the necessary measuring equipment
  • Generally plan and organise the inspection department and equipment
  • Implement 5S with support from the Quality Manager
  • Assist with the training of apprentices on the inspection department

Our successful candidate:

  • Minimum 2 years experience using CMM OR FARO Arm equipment is essential
  • Similar inspection experience from a precision engineering/manufacturing environment
  • Detail orientated, strong work ethic & a positive ‘will do’ attitude
  • Follows management directions to achieve results
  • Excellent planning, organisation & communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn
  • Motivated working alone and as part of a busy team

Core hours of work & Benefits - 

Monday-Thursday 07:00-16:00, Friday 07:00-12:00 (39 hours per week)

Hourly pay grades from £15.91phr
