Position: Buyer

Location: North Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm (flexibility around start and finish times)

Salary: circa £35,000 per annum depending on experience

We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join an established procurement department where you will be able to progress in your career and assist in adding value across the business. Strong commercial awareness, ability to negotiate on T&C’s and mathematical skills are essential for this role.

Job Duties:

• Purchasing small and large goods and materials
• Ensuring purchased goods are to specified costs and lead times
• Negotiating prices and contracts with suppliers
• Requesting for changes to be made on Terms & Contracts
• Attending meetings with suppliers
• Review performance, orders, and future opportunities with suppliers
• Monitoring status of orders and chasing suppliers to ensure a timely delivery of goods
• Input to purchasing projects and activities, working across internal departments
• Preparing reports and analysis to the team as and when required
• Cover other areas within the team as and when required

What we are looking for:

• Experience within a Buyer role
• Ideally engineering or manufacturing experience but not essential
• Strong mathematical skills
• Ability to work out conversions
• Commercial awareness
• Strong communication skills with ability to negotiate
• Highly organised
• CIPS qualified desirable but not essential
• Proactive and methodical working skills
