We are working with a globally recognised Company as the leading designer and manufacturer of non-powered transfer units, based in Birmingham, UK

They are recruiting for a Solution Design Engineer to join their team. In return for a salary in the region of £40.000 along with excellent employment benefits.

As a Solution Design Engineer, you will be working as part of dynamic team who thrive on the day-to-day challenges of delivering projects.

Key Responsibilities include:

Identify, concept design and deliver solutions that provide best in class performance for customers.

Work with Head of Sales – UK & Ireland to develop and deliver annual market strategy, identifying key customer segments and providing a detailed plan to achieve agreed sales targets.

Provide feedback to the wider business on the market environment and other commercially relevant activities.

To support other team members in their sales roles, coaching and mentoring, identifying training needs, being part of and contributing towards a high energy motivated sales team.

Requirements:

Working with the Head of Sales UK and Ireland, create a strategy aligned to the broader business strategy and set targets around UK & Ireland sales; A Strategy designed to target end-user solutions, identify new UK partners and grow revenue through existing customers.

Working with the Head of Sales UK and Ireland implement and deliver against the planned strategy, reporting progress, risks, successes and achievements on a monthly basis as a minimum or as requested by the Managing Director.

Target key end users in a variety of industries such as warehousing, air cargo, manufacturing and conveyor industries. Providing engineered solutions to handling the product movement challenges.

Work with current and potential customers to incorporate solutions into their designs for end client.

Working with the Head of Sales UK and Ireland, develop network of integrators, conveyor manufacturers and others to establish a project pipeline for solutions.

Identify and develop opportunities for new revenue streams (e.g. servicing)

Work closely with design and engineering teams to develop new products, reacting to customer/ marketplace demands.

To produce quotes for products and solutions, working alongside the Purchasing Manager and the Engineering Manager where necessary to ensure accurate costings are produced against which prices are quoted in line with the target margins.

Identify and attend suitable exhibitions, attending sales meetings beyond the UK sales, sharing product and solution knowledge and experience.

Support distributor and reseller customers with training, sales assistance and specification advice.

Provide product training to customers and end users where applicable.

Provide market information and feedback to the wider business to inform future strategy.

Ensure delivery against set targets and KPI’s, reporting against these including corrective action where necessary

Be a team player with a can do attitude and motivating others to be the same.

Detailed Tasks:

Working in a small team, the role will be wide ranging and varied.

This is a hands-on role.

Detailed tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Customer visits throughout UK & Ireland and occasionally international as required.
  • Teams calls to follow up on outstanding enquiries and new business.
  • Liaison with design, engineering, finance and other departments to ensure customer orders are delivered on time and without incurring unnecessary cost to the business.
  • Customer management, including Share of Wallet analysis, financial suitability, payments and other account development.
  • Identification, development and management of new accounts within target segments
  • Solution presentations to customers and prospects, conveying the value proposition, the USP’s of Client’s solution and the return on investment for the customers.
  • Hand over from sales to project delivery following receipt of PO with ongoing support as required to deliver the customer project.
  • Identification and liaising with potential suppliers and partners who would complement Client’s solution offering or become resellers.
  • Attending exhibitions and shows as part of Client’s team on stand or to gather market intelligence.
  • Build a strong network of supporters in terms of technical, sales, knowledge and introduce these to appropriate team members where appropriate.
  • Reporting as required on sales activity
  • Report and act on any potential safety issues immediately
  • Assistance with the development of new company procedures and knowledge bases for solutions delivery
  • Undertake appropriate other projects and tasks as may be occasionally assigned to you.
  • Develop effective working relationships with all relevant personnel in order to foster a productive working atmosphere and a flexible team-oriented workforce.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour at all times
  • Maintain a neat, tidy, organised workplace at all times
  • Help maintain and document policies and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Feed back product quality issues to the Operations Manager, Engineering Manager and Procurement Manager in a timely manner and ensure these are investigated with results being identified and communicated back to the customer in an appropriate professional manner.
