What does the role look like?

As the Quality Manager, you will lead a dedicated team in ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance across the Civil Aftermarket value stream. Reporting directly to the Head of Quality, you will play a pivotal role in driving Continuous Improvement activities to enhance product and service quality, while ensuring adherence to Part 21G and Part 145 regulations and Safety Management Systems.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Serve as the key contact for aftermarket operational quality, acting as the subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement the strategy for Civil Aftermarket Quality, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and support for your team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Take ownership of the performance of the Spares and MRO Quality Clinics, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Lead the deployment of non-conformance management processes, driving timely resolution of issues.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations and Supply Chain teams to drive conformance, compliance, and improvement initiatives.
  • Coach cross-functional teams in structured problem-solving tools to ensure rapid and robust containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Lead MRO Warranty Investigations and Decisions, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive key improvement activities, including Escape Reduction, QN Reduction, Concession Reduction, and SRR reduction.
  • Review, define, and improve key processes to reduce variation and improve process capability, utilizing ZDP™ tools.
  • Deploy Retrospective APQP to key aftermarket products, ensuring robust quality planning and execution.
  • Ensure compliance with Part 21G and Part 145 regulatory requirements and Safety Management Systems.
  • Maintain adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance with Ethics, Export Control, and Environmental Health and Safety requirements within the Quality team.

  • Leverage technical aerospace background to ensure precision and understanding in decision-making processes and quality management within the aerospace industry.

Desirable skills:  

  • Demonstrate previous experience as a Quality Manager within a Manufacturing organization.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills, proficient in efficiently identifying and resolving issues, utilizing tools such as fault trees, 5 whys, and fishbone diagrams.
  • Demonstrate leadership experience, showcasing a drive for results and maintaining a positive outlook, while also displaying excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all levels.
  • Hold a technical education at HNC or Degree Level, preferably in a relevant discipline.
  • Possess experience in the aerospace sector, particularly in areas under Part 145 control, and have prior experience working with complex safety-critical products.
  • Hold certification in Six Sigma/Lean practitioner, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and quality excellence.
  • Adhere to a safety-first approach in all activities, remaining composed under pressure and making data-driven decisions.
  • Display strong team-working and collaboration skills, along with effective problem-solving and work package management abilities.
  • Maintain an approachable demeanor, with a focus on building positive relationships both internally and externally.
