The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a talented AV Design Engineer to join their team in Leicestershire.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating immersive and engaging experiences through audiovisual technology ideally within the context of museums and cultural institutions.

As an AV Design Engineer, you will collaborate closely with their multidisciplinary team to design, implement, and support cutting-edge AV solutions tailored to the unique needs of each project.

You will be a hands-on engineer willing to get stuck in to various aspects of any project.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with stakeholders, architects, and exhibit designers to understand project requirements and constraints.
  • Design innovative AV systems that enhance visitor engagement and complement the narrative and aesthetic.
  • Produce detailed AV system drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess technical requirements and identify potential challenges.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors to source AV equipment and ensure timely delivery and installation.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during the installation, integration, and testing phases.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in AV design for museums and cultural institutions.


Based in Leicestershire salary will be negotiable - circa £45k p.a. plus benefits. The role would suit an experienced design engineer or someone looking to expand their skills in this niche market.

Your knowledge, skills, and experience

  • Ideally a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in AV design and integration, ideally with a focus on museum or exhibition projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SketchUp).
  • Strong knowledge of audiovisual technologies, including projectors, video displays, sound systems, lighting control, and interactive media.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality and robust systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed for site visits and project installations.
