Our client is seeking an EC&I Engineer to assume responsibility for their Electrical, Control/Automation, and Instrumentation systems on-site, playing a key role in providing technical support to a team of 8 technicians at their ink manufacturing facility in Bootle.

The incumbent will drive exceptional performance through continuous improvements and propel the business forward by actively engaging in CAPEX projects, modifications from scope to commissioning. Typical project value is £10-£50k.

The ideal candidate will be time-served with experience in a similar Top Tier COMAH environment as this is a low risk chemical environment where you will be working with flammable inks, hazardous chemicals, IVC's, solvent storage tanks, pump rotating equipment, pipework, filling and packaging machines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of Electrical, Control/Automation, and Instrumentation systems, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Provide technical support to technicians, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
  • Drive exceptional performance through continuous line improvements.
  • Lead and contribute to CAPEX projects, offering expertise in project planning, management, and support.
  • Manage projects from new equipment specification and design to major Factory developments, engineering, and software systems/process control, including SCADA.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum HNC in electrical/electronic engineering.
  • Experience in process control and automation, including PLCs, VSD, SCADA, instrumentation & calibration, and MCCs.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in project supervision, encompassing people and budgetary management.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to comprehend and solve problems while engaging with employees at all levels.
  • Confident in working independently, proactively identifying issues, and creating effective solutions.
  • Experience in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in leading investigations and identifying root causes.
  • If you have automation or robotics background this would be an added bonus but not essential.

Background Checks:

  • Given the nature of this role, the successful candidate will undergo background checks, including a DBS check, and provide 5 years of employment/educational references. Completion of these checks is a prerequisite for commencing the role
