A rapidly expanding FMCG company in Greater Manchester are looking to hire a Quality Manager, on a permanent basis.

During the last few years this unique manufacturer has undergone significant growth and modernisation. This quality role has been redefined to implement a culture of continuous improvement as well as managing the QA and QC department.  

Reporting to the Head of Operations and working as a key part of the senior leadership team, the position will hold responsibility for all aspects of product and process quality within the factory. There is significant scope to re-design the quality function and update/improve processes.

Key duties will include:

  • Leading the Quality team (17 staff), consisting of departmental managers and QC and QA specialists
  • Direct the Quality Management system to ensure compliance with ISO9001, HACCP, GMP standards
  • Lead the development and delivery of actions plans to improve the effectiveness of the QMS in order to enhance product and service received from our suppliers and offered to customers
  • Ensure all Operations staff are competent to operate our equipment properly, follow SOPs and able to develop in their roles and lead maintenance of effective Training records across the business
  • Managing company hygiene, quality and QC activities including Raw Material, In process and Final Quality monitoring
  • Champion the delivery of continuous improvement projects across Operations to improve Quality, introduce new process capability, and minimize waste, ensuring robust Change Control
  • Liaising closely with senior company management, suppliers and customers ensuring appropriate root cause analysis is undertaken to prevent reoccurrence of issues
  • Raw Material Change Control - emergency changes, extend, substitute

Successful applicants will need to have held a management level quality assurance position within a complex/high volume manufacturing environment (ideally FMCG, Chemicals or Pharmaceutical) and have experience in delivering continuous improvement initiatives within production. Ideally candidates will be degree educated or (equivalent) in chemistry or another technical/scientific/engineering subject. An ISO Lead Auditor or Six Sigma qualification would be an advantage.

The position is based on site Monday-Friday with flexible start and finish times and the potential to work remotely 1 day per week. As well as salary, the role comes with a 10% bonus 26 days total holiday, private healthcare, and defined pension scheme.
