We are currently working with a bright, progressive and highly successful structural and civil design practice based in Farringdon, as they look to add a Senior Civil and Infrastructure Engineer to their team which is growing organically and sustainably.

As a Civil and Infrastructure Engineer, you will be representative of the culture and approach to work communicated by the Directors through the Business Policies and Vison and Values.

The company has signed the IStructE Engineers declaration on the climate and biodiversity emergency and that will assist in strengthening their working practices to create structural and civil engineering outcomes that have a more positive impact on the world around them by adopting the IStructE guidance on our approach to design.


The key purpose of this role is work alongside a team of engineers to deliver innovative solutions in external
works, drainage and flooding issues to facilitate new developments, refurbishments and maintain the highway
drainage network.

You will be part of a team that works in a professional manner, applying your skills effectively and competently. Their approach is one of working pro-actively and enthusiastically with colleagues both internally and from external organisations. You will adopt an ethic of 'team-working'.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Design of below ground drainage systems, earthworks, external works and other civil engineering structures to appropriate Statutory Requirements and Guidance from relevant Codes of Practice, Technical Notes, etc.
  • Liaise with all relevant Statutory Authorities and other relevant bodies to obtain approvals as necessary for the Infra-structure works.
  • Liaison with Client, Project Manager, Architect, local authority and other external agencies throughout the planning stage and produce Drainage Strategy and Flood Risk Assessment
  • documents to obtain planning approval.
  • Preparation of appropriate documents, calculations, specifications and sketches in line with Evolve Procedural Manuals suitable for all stages of the project from concept to Building Control
  • submission and approval.
  • Prepare CAD Standards, Specifications, Design Statement Templates for drainage and civil engineering works for the relevant stage of the project.
  • Liaise with CAD Operators where appropriate to enable them to prepare suitable drawings for the relevant stage of the project.
  • Work alongside the designated Project Engineer to monitor progress of the design against programme.
  • Attend meetings where appropriate
  • Visit site to evaluate constraints on and/or progress of construction and that the constructed works reflect the design intent on the Evolve drawings
  • Prepare suitable Reports as required.
  • Carry out data searches where relevant to a project.
  • Attend training or technical seminars where considered beneficial.
  • Procure surveys where necessary.
  • Monitor changes to Planning Guidelines and their impact on infra-structure design
