This Maintenance Manager will report to the Client Delivery Manager and will work within UK Power Networks Services based in our London Canary Wharf office. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of £76,229 plus car and a bonus of 3%.

Job Purpose:

You will conduct and organise maintenance of our client's electrical network and assets, whilst ensuring that there is no unplanned disruption to the electricity supply. You will help manage engineering and craft resource to ensure maintenance activities are undertaken in a safe and efficient manner.

The Commercial Buildings Team holds responsibility for the control, operation and maintenance of High and Low voltage electrical networks at multiple sites. These sites are primarily on the Canary Wharf Estate.

You will be at the operational heart of this arrangement, and hold responsibility for operational and maintenance duties, including Management responsibility for staff, contractors and network assets / maintenance.

You will report into the Client Delivery Manager and manage the daily operational work. In delivering the Operation & Maintenance activities. You must ensure accurate records are maintained and prepared for the clients to demonstrate auditable compliance against commercial contracts.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Undertake and planning of maintenance of the Commercial Buildings HV/LV networks to meet scheduled targets.
  • Produce an annual maintenance plan for acceptance by relevant building management.
  • Ensure all work is undertaken following UKPN procedures for health, safety, quality, environmental and welfare.
  • Deliver (and comply with) safety related audits and actions
  • Maintain security of our client's electrical supplies
  • Meet the customer's expectations in respect to quality, flexibility and reliability of service.
  • Complete necessary associated administrative duties including production of monthly report to the Client Delivery Manager.
  • Ensure maintenance reports are prepared and provided to the client promptly.
  • Support the customer organise and deliver new connection requests, change of tenancy, energisation / de-energisation on the LV metered network including liaising with UKPN to raise supply MPANs.
  • Support the Client Delivery Manager in projects and duties as assigned
  • Carry out operational Senior Authorised Person duties in the delivery of the operations and maintenance requirements and new supplies.
  • General Availability out of normal office hours for fault response.
  • Manage contract resources in the delivery of operations and maintenance works.
  • Raise quotations for re-chargeable works.
  • Manage client interface to ensure all maintenance requirements are met minimising disruption to the building tenants.

Nature and Scope:

  • Co-ordinate daily construction and maintenance activities with Client / Principal Contractor's ensuring programmes are met.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and manage Purchase Order requests with Finance & Governance team.
  • Change Management - ensure early warning notices are brought to the attention of the Stansted Manager / Commercial Manager & Client.
  • Provide technical support as part of the Operation &Maintenance team.
  • Deliver team briefings, give feed-back.
  • Identify potential project risks/opportunities (raise awareness within team / company).
  • Seek continuous improvement.
  • Required to participate in a standby rota and work additional hours to maintain the supplies to our clients infrastructure.
  • Support the Client Delivery Manager in the delivery of our client development and Key Account Management Plan.
  • Represent UKPNS at client and contractor meetings to meet our client requirements.
  • Manage the compliance with all SHE&Q procedures required by UKPNS and the clients we work with.
  • Specification and procurement of goods and services to complete engineering tasks.
  • Daily Management of Operational team including setting of IPR's, control of overtime and operational costs.
  • Management of the daily activities of the team to ensure the successful completion of all engineering tasks.
  • Working with the Client Delivery Manager to ensure all commercial, contract and financial aspects are complied with for the Operational Team.
  • Working with the Client Delivery Manager to ensure resources are available following the agreed plans to complete all engineering activities according to our client requirements.
  • Compliance with the Distribution Safety Rules and Authorisation Processes.
  • Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Electrical Engineering Technical Qualification
  • Experience with MS Office software applications.
  • Experience in distribution systems, switchgear, transformers /cables and knowledge in protection systems.
  • UKPN Senior Authorised Person
  • Hold a current and valid full UK driving licence.
  • Provide technical support as part of the Commercial Buildings team.
  • Attend and contribute to team briefings, give feed-back
  • Identify potential project risks/opportunities (raise awareness within team / company)
  • Read electrical line drawings and understand content.
  • Work in different environments, including confined spaces and at height
  • An understanding of all statutory requirements, including HS&E regulations.
  • Team player
  • Live within 2 hours of the main sites.
  • Required to participate in standby arrangements and work additional hours to maintain supplies.
  • Work unsocial hours to respond to faults on system
  • Basic knowledge of finance

Desirable

  • A broad understanding of UK Power Networks Services businesses.
  • Knowledge of UK Power Networks Services PC&G process.
  • Travel around the Commercial Buildings clients' sites.
  • Ability to manage time and to meet deadlines.
  • To be skilful in decision-making.
  • Relevant Safety Qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
  • Knowledge of Construction Design and Management Regulations.
  • Record of team working
  • Experience managing teams of staff / external contractors
  • Supervisory qualification (Certificate in Management or equivalent)
  • Experience managing small projects
  • Work as individual or as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain focussed on problems
