We currently have a requirement for a Welding Training Instructor to monitor, coach and assess learners, including pre-employment assessment and testing. To support both internal training delivery and external delivery.

You should have experience, working in a craft trade/site role and an auditable level of experience and competence.  This experience in the relevant sectors which should include at least 2 of the following examples; Nuclear, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceutical, or Thermal. You will have extensive experience working in a craft trade/site role and an auditable level of experience and competence. 

You will need a Trade specific level 3 qualification, Instructional Techniques, City & Guilds or Cert Ed or PTLLS, CTLLS or DTTLS. You will be a TDLB D32/D33 Assessor, A1 or TAQA, TDLB D34, V1 or IQA. You should have a CCNSG Safety Passport and ECITB ACIC Approval.

You should have good literary & IT skills. You should be able to work to deadlines and respond to short notice needs. Teaching/instructor experience is essential combined with experience or qualification in coaching/mentoring.

Role & Responsibility

  • Execution: Build a basic understanding of company-wide and discipline codes, standards and working practices in line with Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs). Drive completion of tasks, and achievement of deadlines, aligning taught courses with site operations and the curriculum to best improve the learners potential of timely completion. Deliver courses to apprentices and adults, monitoring performances and supporting as appropriate.
  • Governance: Comply with national laws/regulations and adhere to company-wide & discipline SOPs and WIs to act in line with standardised working practices.
  • Innovation: Be aware of the need for development innovation at more senior levels and begin to build an awareness of expectations in this area in order to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Communication: Understand the need for and begin to build up a basic internal relationship network in order to leverage expertise, influence decision making and satisfy requirements.
  • People Development: Take accountability for their own personal Professional Development as well as the development of their learners.

Job Requirement

  1. Previously qualified to, and with an up to date competence in the specific trade skill within the Engineering Construction Industry
  2. Knowledge and application of Standard Operating Procedures appropriate to allotted tasks and associated documentation
  3. Knowledge and application of the requirements of UK/EU (or equivalent in-country) Laws and Regulations applicable to services and products associated with Competency(s)
  4. Knowledge and understanding of problem solving and risk management techniques
  5. Knowledge and understanding of trade specific equipment and assembly.
