Superior Recruitment are working with a recognised market leader in the provision of integrated fluid transfer, power and control solutions, who are looking for a Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their expanding team.

This position is a direct hire with the client offering a hybrid working model, 3 days in the Glasgow office and 2 working from home.

The function of the Senior Control Engineer is to manage and support the engineering requirements on projects and is ultimately responsible for understanding and delivering technical solutions that accomplish the customer’s goals while protecting and promoting the interests of Hydrasun in all matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • All engineering activities associated with controls systems, including instrument specifications, control logic, wiring, alarms and trips and knowledge of control systems both on DCS and SIS.
  • Remaining within design budget (man hours and materials) and other design targets of optimising final cost and schedule to assigned work scope.
  • Ensuring all items are designed, manufactured, assembled and commissioned and are fit for purpose.
  • Identify and supervise all technical resources needed to complete assigned work scope. Assign and co-ordinate scopes of work, review work done and ensure each resource stays within assigned schedule and cost targets.
  • All activities pertaining to the assigned work scope, as set by the Lead Engineer. This includes but is not limited to: conceptual design and layouts; design, fabrication and test activities; design packages/procedures preparation; approval of Scope of Work for 3rd Party Services; and approval of mobilisation plans and procedures
  • Ensure that the Project Manager is provided with adequate schedule, equipment and cost information to enable correct and accurate preparation of project status for the task under their responsibility. 
  • Ensuring all relevant information of subcontractors, equipment and tooling for the assigned work scope is given to the Lead Engineer, QHSE and Fabrication, Inspection & Mobilisation Departments to enable adequate Quality Control to be performed on them.

Essential Skills:

  • BEng degree in Control Systems Engineering or equivalent transferable qualification.
  • Achieved Chartered Status
  • Controls Systems Specifications.
  • Being able to develop control logic.
  •  Identification, selection and programming controllers/PLCs
  • Ability to produce wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to produce cause and effect diagrams.
  • Experience in programming Allen Bradley. GE, Siemens etc PLCs.
  • Knowledge in overall plant control via HMI, DCS, SIS.
  • Knowledge in the application of international codes and standards (ISO/ISA, BS EN, API, etc).
  • Compiling project documentation.
  • Knowledge in F&G, ESD & PSD systems
  • Installation & commissioning of control systems.
  • Ability to produce wiring I/O wiring diagrams, I/O Lists, loop drawings, interface drawings, junction box & cable schedule, instrument hook-up drawings.
  • Programming of HMI, SCADA – Desirable.
