Role Summary
Authorised Engineer – Power Distribution Network will perform network switching and other network-related activities to support the automation system testing and commissioning in the power network. He/she will be responsible for the overall health and safety on site. He/she will be responsible to carry out site surveys, need analysis, design, manage and deliver the related systems. He/she will work with internal teams at the DNO, and with vendors as needed, to arrive at commercial options and document them. He/she shall interact with the end customers of the DNO for approval / reviewing of the design drawings and specifications along with investment plans periodically.

Key Responsibilities
● Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards to prevent accidents, injuries, and fatalities during the site works for automation projects. This includes following proper procedures for working with high-voltage equipment, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and implementing safety protocols at all times.
● Carrying out site surveys, development of related single-line diagrams and other engineering drawings.
● Understanding of engineering documentation such as P&IDs, process flow diagrams and standard operating procedures.
● Supporting the automation team in technical design of the RTU panels, drawings, detailed specification etc. with the customers for acceptance.
● Has sufficient knowledge and or experience to avoid danger when working in a Grid or Primary substation.
● Carry out switching and testing operations as set out in the Distribution Safety Rules and Power DNO Operational Policies.
● Power system, substation and MV/HV switchgear knowledge is mandatory.
● Support automation team in remote terminal unit (RTU) programming, testing and commissioning
● Configuration of network protection relays, energy analyzers and other peripherals when needed.
● Promote and enforces safe working environment by enforcing and supporting adequate HSE measures in all activities undertaken by himself & the team, follows ethics and compliances as per company guidelines.

Desired Experience
● Hands-on experience with specific focus in network switching in HV/LV network particularly in a geographically dispersed and matrixed managed organisation
● Candidates are supposed to submit the related certifications for the authorisation with the voltage levels.
● Familiarity with design tools like Autocad or equivalent for substation layouts, cable schedules, wiring and termination charts is nice to have.
● Experience in Identifying and diagnosing faults or abnormalities in the distribution network, such as short circuits, overloads, and voltage fluctuations, and taking appropriate actions to rectify the issues.

Desired experience:

● Expeirence in maintenance activities such as inspecting and testing the EHC/HV/LV equipment to ensure relianilty and effiecienct of the distribution network. This may involve troubleshooting electrical issues, replacing faulty components,
and performing preventive maintenance tasks.

● Familiarity with factory and site acceptance tests from design to approval phase.
● Good communication skills for team working culture, ability to generate techno economic reports with apt writing skills.

● Having a particular knowledge on at least 2 of the areas below is desirable:
o RTU programming, testing and commissioning
o Communication media such as RF, 3G/4G, Fiber, LPWAN etc.
o Communication protocols: IEC 61850, IEC 104, DNP 3.0, MQTT
o Network Protection
