We are recruiting for an R&D Assembly Technician for a global engineering group focused on the precise control and movement of fluids in critical applications.

The company's Engineering Division specialises in the design and manufacture of engineer to order highly specialised flow control valves.

Hours of Work:   37 hours per week. 8.00am to 4.30pm Mon to Thurs and 8.00am to 1.00pm Friday

Location:  Poole, Dorset, Office based. 

Job Summary

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the role is responsible for supporting the Product Development strategy delivering profitable organic growth and continuous improvement. The role is part of the Engineering Department and involves working effectively with the Projects, Production and Quality Engineering teams and Manufacturing Department. The role incorporates a structured development process in which Engineering core skills will be applied and enhanced using "on the job learning" in relation to valve testing and development processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Valve Development Testingunder the supervision and mentoring of R&D Technicians, Design Engineers,and Engineering Manager.
  • Have strong experience of non-standard assembly - could include backgrounds in fluid control, pressure compressors, hydraulic motors, actuators.
  • Have minor to good design experience.
  • CAD technical report writing, IT skills for report writing from pressure testing.
  • Based in the R&D laboratory assembling new valves for testing and testing them and then report writing and producing graphs with the data
  • Supervise colleagues in the R&D laboratory when testing, checking equipment before test procedures
  • Good understanding of risk assessments
  • Testing newly developed and designed Valves plus existing projects

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree, Diplomaor equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Demonstrable key skills inand knowledge around materials, stress analysisand practical mechanical assembly.
  • Practical skillsand good working knowledgeof precision manufacturing, CNC lathes, millingand general fabrication.
  • Experience or knowledge of engineering software, 2D and 3D CAD, FEA, CFD, Mathcad, MS Office, preferably using Autodesk platforms (AutoCAD, Inventor, Ansys).

Desirable

  • Knowledge of design, construction,and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of high-pressurevalves for Nuclear, Oil and Gas or Space and related certification, customer practices and regulations.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering and solenoid design.
