Role: Electrical Design Engineer
Salary: £40,000 - £65,000

Our client is committed to providing value-added power engineering services to private network owners, embedded generation investors, and carbon-reducing organizations. We are seeking an innovative Design Engineer with experience in client-side HV projects to lead infrastructure and energy projects on our customer networks up to and including 132kV.

We are looking for an individual who can work within a Design Team alongside Engineers who will mentor and develop suppliers, procurements, commercial contracts, costing, work on various projects, visiting construction sites, working on design and estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all aspects of design from outline to detail during the project life including design, planning, approval, construction, commissioning, and final handover
• Developing customer projects into detailed design packs to be delivered in accordance with current conditions policies and standards
• Act as Lead Designer for Infrastructure and Energy Projects

Skills and experience

• HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineer (or equivalent) with a bias towards Power Engineering Desirable
• Good understanding of Low Voltage & High Voltage Electrical Principles and theory
• Distribution network design including some knowledge of volt drop calculations, earth loop impedance calculations and protection would be advantageous
• Have some knowledge of electrical engineering design and practices (e.g. ETAP, Dig silent SafeGrid & Trimble Power)
• Experience in plant specification P&C, AISs/GISs and 33/66/132Kv substation layouts
• Demonstrate an understanding of Construction Design Management regulations relating to Electrical infrastructure projects

• Design & Construction of High Voltage Private Networks
• Grid Support Generation technologies incl. Battery Energy Storage Systems, Gas Peaking & Grid Scale Solar Projects
• Implementing Fuel Cell technologies into the Private Distribution networks
• Large Private Wire Distribution network development and management
