White Label are excited to be recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with one of our key clients in Greater Manchester. This highly reputable global manufacturing client  specialise in heavy engineering products, and have a thriving engineering team with a full order book for 2024. The company require an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, ideally with a heavy engineering background to join their very busy engineering department.

Main purpose of job: As part of an Engineering team, responsible for the delivery of Engineering projects on time and on cost your role will be to ensure technical performance standards are maintained, to deliver mechanical system designs that meet customer specifications and regulatory needs and to assist with continuous improvement of the design engineering capability.

Main Duties:

1. Develop design solutions working in conjunction with designers within the team
2. Check drawings
3. Prepare technical documents such as specifications, reports, manuals, procedures etc.
4. Undertake hardware development and testing
5. Compile technical documents and test specifications
6. Interpret technical specifications
7. Liaise with suppliers and act as a company representative at customer review meetings
8. Provide support for the production, test and field engineering teams. Support the sales team with bids and quotations

Relevant Experience

• Proven experience in design, testing and development of mechanical systems
• Medium to heavy engineering experience
• Understanding of the behaviour of large welded and bolted mechanical structures
• Have proven experience in the design of systems from original concept design, produced from a specification, through to production in a Lead role.
• Excellent IT skills (MS package and analysis tools)
• Hands-on 3D CAD design expertise
• Knowledge of Access and Teamcenter

The package:

• Up to £52k
• 37 hour working week, with 2 days per week from home and flexible working hours
• 25 days holiday
• 7% employer paid pension – uncapped for the employee
