EHV Project Manager  

Our client is one of the UK’s leading is a multi-disciplinary HV power, renewable energy and utilities contracting business, with the skills and expertise to deliver complex projects in highly regulated and hazardous environments across a number of different service lines, regional offices and business units.

Overview

Due to continued expansion and the commitment to sustained and profitable growth, our client now wishes to appoint a highly motivated and industry experienced Project Manager. Reporting to the senior management team, the main purpose of this role will take the responsibility of overseeing multiple projects and be the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. You will be focussing on ensuring effective communication is maintained with all parties concerned throughout the project life cycle from award to completion. We need a self-starter with project management experience within the electrical industry who enjoys a challenge and thrives on working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines supporting the operational of EHV installations and projects, along with direct responsibility for the works carried out by team members. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring all works are completed in a safe, timely and professional manner and to high standards, in line with industry regulations and the company’s safe working practises.

The Role

  • Providing project planning, milestone and scope management, resource forecasting, financial and cost control, and change management across the company’s entire project portfolio
  • Producing and maintaining accurate records of works undertaken
  • Defining and embedding project control and governance
  • Designing and maintain accurate and current programs of work for assigned projects
  • Providing routine updates and reports at an operational and commercial level
  • Overseeing project costs and ensuring finances are well managed
  • Supporting the pre-contracts team with project feedback, recommendations and lessons learned
  • Delivering projects sustainably in consideration of competence, capability and safety
  • Taking decisions as required, including pre-empting issues and identifying solutions
  • Attending site when necessary to troubleshoot, monitor quality or conduct audits
  • Maximising profitability for the business at all times, considering innovative or better practices to deliver project efficiency wherever possible
  • Ensuring cross-programme dependencies are managed and logs are accurately maintained
  • Ensuring efficient change control methods and processes are utilised
  • Working across multiple disciplines and sites, working productively with clients, customers and designers on a daily basis, whilst always remaining organized and agile in leading multiple teams

The Person

  • Preferably at least 5-10 years’ experience in a similar position within any area of the EHV (Extra High Voltage) power sector, and a good working knowledge of industrial electrical distribution systems, networks and regulations (up to and including 132kv)
  • Knowledge of power distribution systems and DNO’s networks (up to and including 132kv)
  • Preferably an Electrical Engineering Degree or HND / HNC, or commensurate practical experience in the absence of any qualifications
  • CSCS card and full UK driving licence holder
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, across multiple platforms such as smart phones, tablets and laptops
