Job Title: CAD Technician 

Role Overview:

Our client is seeking a skilled CAD Technician with a piping/ mechanical background to join their team on a permanent basis. 

Key responsibilities:

To perform engineering work related to configuring, deploying, maintaining and upgrading CAD models. The ideal candidate will design, develop and engineer high quality models using 3D and 2D CAD tools. They will also have the ability to produce designs that meet targets for feasibility, performance, costs, quality, safety, legislation and timing. All work carried out will be in compliance with company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance and procedural standards.

Candidates will be proficient using 2D AutoCAD, and experience with 3D modelling (preferably using Inventor) would be highly advantageous.

Duties: 

• Designing equipment, pipework, and access solutions.
• Generate 3D drawings
• Generate fabrication drawings
• Develop and maintain 3D models (using Autodesk Inventor), utilising supplier drawings plus industry standard pipework/component specifications and dimensions.
• Maintaining the drawings register and tracker
• Meeting deadlines and department KPIs
• Attending design review meetings when required

Ideal experience/background: 

• Autodesk Inventor 2+ years’ experience
• Autodesk AutoCAD (2D) 2+ years’ experience
• Autodesk Vault
• Good communication skills both in written correspondence and client facing meetings.
• Excellent planning and organisation skills.
• Attention to detail and a dynamic approach.
• Familiarity with the standard Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Full UK driving licence.

It would be greatly advantageous to have experience of the following: 

• I-logic (Inventor)
• Sheet Metal (Inventor)
• Rendering in 3D (Inventor)

A background within the Water or Utilities industries would be beneficial.
