Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

£36,000 + Per Annum (£45-50k per annum earning potential available)

Job summary:

You will be part of a 2-person team working a 3-shift rotating shift pattern (40 hours per week) made up of:

• Week1: 6.00am - 2.00pm Mon-Fri        
• Week 2: 8.00pm - 6.00am Mon-Thurs 
• Week 3: 1.00pm - 9.00pm Mon-Thurs, and 10.00am - 6.00pm Friday

Your role will include:

On your team will be an Electrician and yourself as the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.

You will be tasked to carry out preventative maintenance tasks as well as be reactive with regard plant breakdowns and repairs.

You will also be required to carry out Installation work on machinery and within the factory.

All actions need to be carried out in a safe and professional manner, reporting to supervisors, and filling out daily shift reports and other necessary paperwork.

General Scope of work includes:

• Work on Hydraulic systems
• Work on Pneumatic systems
• General welding and fabrication
• Oxygen/acetylene burning.
• Bench fitting
• Forklift/cherry picker/OHC operation
• Basic electrical fault finding.

However as per the nature of the business, other general maintenance task may also be required.

Experience/Qualifications Required:

Completed Apprenticeship/time served would be preferred but an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical Maintenance or any other relevant qualification would be acceptable

Heavy Industrial work will be involved so experience of automatic production machinery would be an advantage

Basic Electrical qualifications would be an advantage

Driving licence preferred but not essential.

The pay rates will be paid as follows:

• Midweek Basic = £15.93 per hour (Rate 1)
• Overtime during the week = £19.11 per hour (Rate 2)
• Sunday and Bank holidays = £31.86 per hour (Rate 3)
• Saturday overtime = £23.89 per hour (Rate 4)

Over 12 months, the rates above equate to circa £36,000 + overtime

Overtime requirements:

Weekend working – A minimum of 1 Saturday in 3 required following the 6.00am - 2.00pm shift as well as 12-hour shifts to cover holidays of other engineers and maintain 24-hour plant support and/or emergency breakdowns as and when required.

Additional overtime will be required to suit business needs.

Holiday Entitlement/Other

33 days holiday per year including Bank Holidays

Fixed shut down periods are pre-planned during Whitsun, Summer & Christmas.
