White Label is representing an engineering and manufacturing business in Halifax that requires a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.

My client designs and manufactures a range of special-purpose machinery and requires a Mechanical Design Engineer who can be involved in the full design process from cradle to grave.

Package/Benefits

• A salary of £35,000 - £40,000.
• 4 day work week working Monday – Thursday.
• 36 hours per week with flexible start and finish times.
• Pension.
• 24 days holiday (including bank holiday). Holiday allowance increase by 1 day per year in the business up to 4 days.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer

• Work closely with the existing design team to fully understand the customers’ needs and performance requirements.
• Design with cost in mind using cost effective decisions.
• Evaluate design concept technical and project risks.
• Hands on production & R&D machine build
• Working on existing designs, overcome mechanical problems, providing evidence, 3D models and fully details drawings (Solidworks CAD) and Vault.
• Be able to work with the team but also individually on new projects from concept to production ensuring designs are robustly engineered.
• Liaising with a multi-disciplined team during development and also with suppliers to ensure correct materials and parts are sourced.
• Will have the ability to take designs into production
• Knowledge of BOM configurations (Sage system).
• Presenting designs throughout the project and holding design reviews to peers.
• Completing ECN work on existing designs.
• Be able to identify ISO standards which have a direct impact on the design.
• Knowledge of machining methods and sheet metal designs.
• Have experience in industrial design to ensure the company produces aesthetically pleasing solutions to design briefs.

• Experience working with gears, drives and motors.

Experience required of the Mechanical Design Engineer

• Educated to Degree / HND level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years engineering design experience
• 3 years 3D CAD using Solidworks, also have experience in AutoCAD
• SPM/Machinery design experience would be advantageous.
