Our Client is a long-established and very successful metal forming company based in Willenhall in the West Midlands.  Recent refurbishment has made this the most modern facility in the UK, offering extensive in-house services to their clients.

They are looking for a Sales Engineer to join their team.  This position includes fully funded day release at a local training provider to achieve a recognised Engineering qualification.

Requirements:

  • You will be conscientious, team player, computer literate with a genuine interest and passion for engineering and manufacturing.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume engineering environment would be advantageous.

Hours and salary:

Working hours are 8.00am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday; Friday 8.00am - 3.30pm, with half an hour unpaid lunch.  You will receive 33 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays) to be taken during fixed factory shutdown periods.

A salary of £25,000 to £27,500 is offered, dependent on experience (inclusive of fully funded day release support), which is paid monthly.

Key Responsibilities of the Sales Engineer:

Joining the Sales Team, you will work alongside the current Sales Manager and Manufacturing Engineer.  Your key responsibility will be providing accurate, timely product cost estimates in response to customer enquiries:

  • Initial assessment of customer enquiries
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Calculate component weights, estimate total material volume requirements
  • Establish production rates dependent on product complexity, component size, component material, production cell used etc. working with Production to establish best method of manufacture.
  • Be an active member of Continuous Improvement activities and review of methods of manufacture for new and existing products.
  • Facilitate feasibility meetings to review new enquiries when necessary
  • Create quotations inclusive of both in-house and subcontract operations for final review
  • Use CAD to assess and create data for communication with customers
  • Become familiar with forging, machining, heat treatment and surface finishing processes.
  • Gain an understanding of specific aspects of metallurgy / material science applied to the forging process.

Training & Support:

Dependant on previously gained experience, they will provide fully funded training and learning support to include:

  • Day release to college to pursue a recognised qualification
  • CAD / CAM design software support and training
  • Various in-house and external metallurgy / material science training and courses where appropriate.
