Job Title: Project Design Engineer

Location: Gateshead, Newcastle

Salary: £35,000 - £42,000


The Company:  

We are working with an established, leading heavy engineering & automotive manufacture who are looking to recruit a new Project Design Engineer.

You will manage projects, liaise with toolmakers, customers and other engineers to ensure that work is delivered in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner as well as using your engineering skills to create new and improve current manufacturing processes, jigs and fixtures using 3D CAD.

Job Description:

  • To develop new product processes.
  • To create and manage timing plans and support required for assigned projects.
  • To create process flows and PFMEA’s and review at stages through the NPI process.
  • To set up standard operating procedures and manage process documentation.
  • To set up and correct bill of materials.
  • Support 8D investigations.
  • To set and run tool trials.
  • To set and run assembly trials.
  • To design and oversee the manufacture of jigs and fixtures using multiple CAD software products.
  • Support 8D investigations.
  • Manufacture of prototype parts.
  • Engineering change control creation.
     

Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency using 3D CAD – Solidworks.
  • Minimum HNC qualified Engineer (Time Served will be considered).
  • Tooling background - basic understanding of processes such as turning, fitting, weld fixtures etc. 
  • Design and project experience.
