Job Title: Project Design Engineer
Location: Gateshead, Newcastle
Salary: £35,000 - £42,000
The Company:
We are working with an established, leading heavy engineering & automotive manufacture who are looking to recruit a new Project Design Engineer.
You will manage projects, liaise with toolmakers, customers and other engineers to ensure that work is delivered in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner as well as using your engineering skills to create new and improve current manufacturing processes, jigs and fixtures using 3D CAD.

Job Description:
- To develop new product processes.
- To create and manage timing plans and support required for assigned projects.
- To create process flows and PFMEA’s and review at stages through the NPI process.
- To set up standard operating procedures and manage process documentation.
- To set up and correct bill of materials.
- Support 8D investigations.
- To set and run tool trials.
- To set and run assembly trials.
- To design and oversee the manufacture of jigs and fixtures using multiple CAD software products.
- Support 8D investigations.
- Manufacture of prototype parts.
- Engineering change control creation.
Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency using 3D CAD – Solidworks.
- Minimum HNC qualified Engineer (Time Served will be considered).
- Tooling background - basic understanding of processes such as turning, fitting, weld fixtures etc.
