Position Description

Role Title:

Quality Manager

Role Purpose

The is a Management role with a responsibility to ensure that the organisation is managed and supported with the provision of effective quality guidance and support and that also takes responsibility for the effective maintenance and continuous improvement of the company’s business management system (BMS). 

Key Areas of Responsibility   

Lead and monitor the Company continual improvement processes and performance

Reporting on performance and support of the continual development of the Quality and Business Management System for Company operations

To ensure effective management of designated Quality management and document control personnel

To manage and supervise operational Quality support required for projects and worksites

To manage the relevant support to the Commercial tendering and bid process

To manage the Company accreditation processes for the Management System

To manage the control of documentation and to ensure accurate and timely document control services to the Company for governance and project activities  

To liaise with relevant Authorities and external Stakeholders with regards to Quality matters

To continually promote and present the Quality culture and values at departmental, project and Client level

To manage the production and implementation of the Company internal and third party audit program   

To bring to the attention of the Managing Director / Senior Management Team any deficiencies or urgent matters relating to compliance

Primary point of contact for Quality matters with all internal and external organisations   

Key Tasks

Quality Management

To manage quality support, assistance and processes to the Company internal and external  stakeholders

To manage quality content of the Management System and support of Company accreditations

To manage and co-ordinate Company NCR’s

To manage and co-ordinate Company MOC’s

To manage and lead the Company audit schedule and co-ordination of delivery

To manage and lead quality participation and deliverables for projects

To provide quality support and guidance for Commercial pre-qualification and tenders

To provide quality support and guidance for Supplier / Supply Chain selection and monitoring

Operational / Project Support

Provision of operational guidance relating to QA/QC requirements during tender, contractual, installation and construction phases

Management and co-ordination of requirements to the Commercial tendering / bid process, ensuring all QA/QC information is accurately reviewed and submitted 

Management, co-ordination, implementation and maintenance of all project QA/QC documentation in accordance with the QA/QC Management Systems and Client specific requirements

Manage and lead the internal and supply chain audit processes  

Manage and lead the external accreditation audit process in relation to ISO standards and Company accreditations, such as Achilles

Manage and lead the internal audit process, conducting specific audits as required

Production of clear and concise audit reports and overseeing that corrective actions are effectively allocated for close out

Attendance at project specific operational and Lessons Learnt meetings both internal and external to ensure QA/QC issues are suitably addressed

Manage and lead the process for identification, recording, investigation and follow-up ofQA/QC related issues

Development and participation with the improvement of systems and processes where QA/QC deficiencies have been identified

To aid the realisation of Company QA/QC performance targets and objectives

To advise on any statutory / mandatory quality related training requirements

Compliance / Monitoring & Control

Manage and co-ordination of corrective action processes with Third Parties as a result of Client complaints / NCR’s

Co-ordination of MOC process for internal and external instructed change

Manage and distribution of QA/QC performance data to the Senior Management Team

To monitor and advise / report on areas of non-compliance or non-adherence to legislation, standards or adherence to the Senior Management System

Manage the distribution of QA/QC performance statistics to relevant Stakeholders

Oversee in conjunction with Department / Location Managers that worksites and offices are in adherence with the QA/QCQ Management System and local / national QA/QC legislation and standards 

To ensure that all QA/QC actions are suitably registered, monitored and closed out in timely manner

To support and coach other staff members fulfilling quality related functions  

To conduct performance appraisals and set clear objectives with direct reports

To promote awareness and understanding of QA/QC matters throughout the organisation

Key Measurables

Ensure that the appropriate processes, procedures and standards required to establish, maintain and develop the Business Management Management Systems are in place 

Current legislation and standards are applied to are known and reviewed to ensure organisational compliance

Production of accurate data for inclusion within relevant QA/QC performance reports

Successful completion of key tasks and objectives within appropriate timescales

Education and Qualifications Specific to Role

Essential Qualifications

Recognised Quality qualification 

IRQA Certified Lead Auditor

Member of CQI

Demonstrable Experience Specific to Role    

  • Industry experience, particularly trenching and subsea cable installation
  • Demonstrable managerial skills at a  management level
  • Experience and understanding of Business Management Systems, Legislation, Quality Standards, Risk Management, Auditing, Inspection,
  • Knowledge of commercial processes and contractual documents
  • Skilled with all Microsoft Office Packages
