We are looking for a Controls Specialist to join our remote support department. The primary purpose of the role is to supply TGW customers with a quality 24hr * 7 day, technical hotline service (on a rotated shift pattern.)
As a Controls Support Engineer, you’ll play a vital part in managing, maintaining and evolving control systems PLC’s, Robots and Drives. The role is critical in ensuring these systems resume operation after a fault is logged within our ticket system.
This is an ideal opportunity for a Commissioning, Automation or Field Service Engineer looking to reduce travel requirements but continue supporting and maintaining various control systems across a large customer base.
The shifts are 12 hours on a 2 week rotation on day shifts and then 2 weeks on night shifts (2 on 3 off etc..). The night shifts are worked from home as well as any weekend day shifts. You will be required to work 5 day shifts over a 4 week period from the Market Harborough office.
Main Responsibilities
- Offer professional telephone support to customers both internal and external.
- Resolve operational and systematic issues effectively.
- Provide training and support to LTS and Customer on-site teams.
- Review and identify common issues raised that could be resolved remotely or through additional site training.
- Maintain and manage the ticket system and department documentation.
- Be the technical expert for any Controls related issues on a range of sites across the UK, Europe and the US.
- Escalate problems within the wider business where required and continue to manage the problem until resolved.
- To provide effective communication to senior management and support colleagues.
- PLC code testing and writing to support U&E business.
- On-Site support opportunities as required to support project works and training.
About You
- Materials handling / Automation experience either as a controls engineer or an electrically biased maintenance or comissioning engineer.
- Experience in Industrial Control Systems (Siemens Step 7 to TIA Portal.)
- Knowledge of Drives and Networks within an automated system.
- Ability to read Electrical drawings to fault find.
- Experience dealing directly with customers / end users.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Experience with MS Office suite, and be comfortable with Word, Excel and Outlook products.
- Creative problem solver with strong planning and decision-making skill.
