Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

• Job Type: Full-time, Permanent - DAYS ONLY, MONDAY - FRIDAY
• Location: Gillingham
• Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 - 37 HOURS PER WEEK

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our clients established engineering team within the automotive manufacturing and R&D sector. The role involves providing both reactive and preventative maintenance support, ensuring the smooth operation of their facility.

Day to Day of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:

• Conduct fault finding, rectification, modification, and development of machinery as necessary.
• Liaise with internal and external suppliers for service engineers, spares, and other requirements.
• Plan and organise maintenance activities considering the impact of machine downtime.
• Maintain an up-to-date record of trackside spares and required parts, raising purchasing requests as needed.
• Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure seamless operations.
• Utilise the CMMS system for maintenance handovers and asset traceability.
• Respond to breakdowns for machine tools, assembly, and test machines efficiently.

Required Skills & Qualifications of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:

• HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven engineering background with experience in machine tools and processes.
• Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic fault finding.
• Ability to read engineering and schematic drawings.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels and the ability to work collaboratively.
• Innovative thinking and team-oriented approach.
