Our client is looking for a Mechanical Project Manager to join their team, helping manufacture products for the aerospace industry. The role will involve ensuring the maintenance of the site, focusing on specific projects and sections of the site are properly cared for, run effectively, and avoiding down time.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert engineering and maintenance support, leveraging your expertise, knowledge, and experience.
  • Prepare design calculations in compliance with relevant standards and legislation, following standard formats and procedures.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts, including project valuations, brief preparation, and client presentations.
  • Drive improvements in reliability and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for issue resolution.
  • Mentor and guide area maintenance personnel, fostering their development.
  • Plan and monitor activities during planned downtime.
  • Review and optimize Planned Maintenance tasks for efficiency and validity.

Key Objectives:
  • Master Mechanical Principles and possess a basic understanding of Civil Engineering and electrical control concepts.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of engineering related EHS aspects, such as CDM, HAZOP, confined spaces, and contractor control.
  • Develop engineering specifications adhering to relevant BS engineering standards, codes of practices, and guidelines.
  • Effectively project manage engineering installations using Microsoft Project and Oracle-based budget management tools.
  • Enhance Plant and equipment "up-time" to maximize productivity.
  • Review tender documents from third-party suppliers and manage budgets.
  • Oversee project installations, conduct on-site personnel training, and maintain project documentation.
  • Proficiently review and analyse engineering drawings, utilizing AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor skills.
  • Exhibit IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word and internal systems usage.
  • Collaborate with contractors and on-site personnel during installations.
  • Uphold attention to detail and demonstrate effective team leadership capabilities.
  • Support area maintenance teams in addressing issues and breakdowns with a proactive approach.
  • Possess self-motivation and a drive to achieve goals and targets.
  • Have a strong knowledge of hydraulic systems.

Basic Qualifications:
  • HNC/HND (preferably a degree) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience or a keen interest in working within a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Leadership experience is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical knowledge in heavy engineering and fast-paced production environments.
  • Proficiency in analysing technically complex problems and proposing appropriate solutions.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and effectively drive change in an engineering and maintenance environment.
  • In return, the Area mechanical engineer will get:
  • Between £53,000 - £55,000 per annum, experience dependent
  • Free access to onsite doctor, Psychotherapist and Physio
  • Also access to onsite gym for £20 PA with a free personal trainer

  • Cycle to work scheme
  • 25 days Holidays + Bank Holidays
