PROCESS ENGINEERING MANAGER

The Process Engineering Manager will be responsible for process design, equipment specification, acquisition, installation, commissioning and vendor management for all elements of the electrode manufacturing process. The successful candidate will be required to build skills and capability within the newly formed function to ensure outstanding performance against key manufacturing performance indicators including Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Rate of Climb adherence and delivery to SQCDP targets.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for the planning, specification, acquisition, installation and delivery of manufacturing production equipment, processes and facilities that meet our quality, volume and cost targets.
  • Management of the equipment vendor supply chain to ensure on delivery of plant & equipment to specified SQCDP and Process Capability targets.
  • Lead a team through the engineering process from its conception through to delivery ensuring that all metrics including Control Points in Specified Tolerance, Process Performance and Process Capability and Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Environment objectives are met.
  • Responsibility for the development, maintenance and governance of end to end manufacturing processes, including the validation and approval of Standardised Work Instructions.
  • Create opportunities and develop plans which pro-actively drive engineering continuous improvement whilst ensuring a logical & rigorous response to emerging issues identified through audit.
  • Develop improvement plans / glide paths for external customer performance.
  • Collaborate across functional areas and production to overcome challenges and present clear solutions with a strong business case to senior management.
  • Develop and manage regular reviews of PFMEA/ Control plan.
  • Lead all process design and installation project timing plans and manage expenditure budgets through effective financial control.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience of Manufacturing / Engineering processes, tools and techniques including consistent delivery of productivity targets in Manufacturing
  • Proven experience of leading multi-skilled teams in Manufacturing through programme/project delivery
  • Experience of management and analysis of data and cost benefits, the production of metrics, the development of plans with defined objectives, and structured problem solving.
  • Experience of vendor management to specify, commission and deliver Plant & Equipment
  • Proven talent for driving solutions and leading teams to deliver process improvements
  • Six Sigma exprience/knowledge 
  • Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments.
