Our well established british engineering client has recently experienced great success in the  design and manufacture of Safety equipment for the Motorsport, Military and Aerospace industries and is looking to grow the team with  the appointment of this Quality Engineer position. 

You will be working as the key point of contact for the engineering, design and production teams working from the Coventry HQ.

The postholder will adopt a proactive approach in order to  identify, resolve and prevent quality issues within engineering and manufacturing.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years experience working within a quality role, preferably within the automotive engineering sector.

Job Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in similar role
  • Manual inspection experience
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Auditor experience with ability to confidently conduct audits internally and with suppliers
  • Supplier development and supplier quality experience
  • Problem solving experience
  • Proven knowledge of working within quality management frameworks and familiarity with the principles of the latest ISO9001 standard
  • Strong knowledge of quality control procedures, tools, and methodologies
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results

Key Tasks

  • Ensure that all necessary quality standards and requirements including drawings and boundary samples are in place and coni=tinulously updated / improved
  • Ensure all suppliers meet quality standards and requirements
  • Conduct supplier audits
  • Resolve quality issues with suppliers
  • Develop and implement supplier quality improvement initatives
  • Ensure suppliers are made aware of and responsible for rectfication costs incurred through poor quality,
  •  Identify and resolve internal quality issues.
  •  Utilise root cause analysis where appropriate
  •  Collaborate with cross functional teams to address quality concerns.
  •  Set criteria for Goods inwards inspection acceptance criteria, including process sheets (PIC’s)
  •  Monitor production area for quality issues
  • Ensure the latest processes are available for all operatives
  •  Interpret and respond to customer quality concerns
  •  Monitor the cost of poor quality within the company
  •  Ensure designs are manufacturable, tolerances are realistic and can be inspected in-house
  •  Engage a continuous improvement philosophy both internally and externally
  •  Document lessons learnt and review with staff regularly
  •  Manage all aspects of customer’s quality concerns (0Km and warranty)

This role will be both office and shop floor based
