Our Client, a World recognised and respected Automotive OEM Manufacturer based in rural Warwickshire, are actively seeking an experienced Material Planning Manager to join their highly successful team with immediate effect on initially a 6 month Contract basis (Inside IR35), albeit with likelihood of extension at the end of this term. This position is shift based with the hours of work being Monday to Thursday from 2-00pm – 1-00am. On offer to the successful candidate is a competitive, albeit negotiable hourly rate, based on relevant experience.
Your role will be to support a team of Material Planners, Coordinators and Launch/Data/Inventory workers along with a team of DHL staff /contractors to deliver parts to production. As the Material Planning Manager, you will need to ensure the team resolve supply issues and escalate risk suppliers which require support and leadership to improve delivery performance

Your duties and responsibilities will be to:
  • To lead and manage the material planning team ensuring all team members are trained and competent in role
  • Manage supply base to ensure material availability to support production build.
  • Manage new supplier set up and training to ensure competence in the use of company systems – VCS, TLS etc.
  • Use planning and forecasting tools and reports to ensure proactive approach to materials management.
  • Target zero miss-fits or line stops due to material shortages.
  • Manage the emergency transport budget and ensure costs are minimised.
  • Where supply disruptions occur, resolve issues in a timely manner completing a root cause analysis to eliminate future recurrence.
  • Through effective supplier monitoring, identify poor performing suppliers and develop improvement plans.
  • Effective management of stock levels – optimise stock levels to ensure parts availability whilst adhering to inventory targets.
  • Effective management of engineering change to minimise the risk of obsolescence.
  • Represent the department at relevant meetings e.g. daily production start-up.
  • Work closely with the Launch Controller to support material availability for new model launch.
  • Work closely with the Logistics Controller to ensure effective flow of inbound materials and lineside delivery to achieve production.
  • Ensure effective succession plan is in place for team.
  • Managing a team of people.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Should ideally be educated with a Degree or HND in a relevant subject, although plenty of relevant experience will be considered.
  • You should be an experienced Material Planning Manager (MP&L) who ideally has previous exposure to managing Automotive Tier 1 suppliers and supplier performance improvement.
  • New Model Launch experience is essential.
  • You will need to have knowledge and experience of 3PL and warehouse management.
  • You should have a good knowledge of and abilities to use ERP/MRP systems.
  • A high degree of MS Office knowledge is essential (with emphasis on Excel).
  • You should be a strong and experienced people Manager.
It’s great if you also have the following:
  • Automotive component and manufacturing experience is desirable.
