The Background and Role

  • My client is a specialist defence related industry is looking for a flexible and adaptable Lead Design Engineer to join their team.  The candidate must be a UK national and will need to pass security vetting upon employment

The Person:

  • The successful candidate will be qualified to SVQ/NVQ Level 5 or ONC/HNC (Minimum Level 4) or City & Guilds T4 or T6 in Mechanical Engineering, with a supporting EITB Approved Apprenticeship.  They will have a good understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and the ability to apply them in an analytical and methodical approach.  A strong background in Design/Project Administration/Engineering is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile, monitor and update project plans and status reports.
  • Compile, monitor and update project engineering and procurement project files. 
  • Provide technical and administrative support for specific projects.
  • Provide technical and administrative support for drawing and parts list release and modification.
  • Provide technical support during the procurement, build and test phases of specific projects.
  • Generate project procurement lists, raise project RFQ’s and purchase orders.
  • Monitor and actively progress the project procurement process.
  • Be responsible for receiving project deliveries, goods inwards approval and assignment to the relevant project.
  • Undertake associated project duties as requested by Senior Management.

Experience:

  • Preferably 5+ years in a Mechanical Design/Manufacturing Environment.
