We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join a team of skilled engineers based in Rochdale specialising in turnkey systems for the manufacture of a wide range of products.

What’s on offer?

• £44,000 - £48,000 per year
• Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm / Friday 8:30am – 2:00pm
• Unlimited overtime available (paid at enhanced rate)

What will you be doing as a Software Engineer?

• Providing internal training across departments in PLC/HMI
• Supporting on-site customer demonstrations and trials
• Conducting pre-order research and estimates through customer and internal meetings
• Assisting with project progress appraisals and re-estimating hours/costs
• Participating in control design meetings with both customers and internal teams
• Writing control specification, FDS, FAT documents, and operator manuals
• Specifying hardware requirements including PLCs, remote I/O, fieldbus communications, and HMIs
• Integrating and testing specified hardware and inter-device/HMI communications
• Designing and developing software for control systems involving PLCs, field devices, and HMIs, using platforms like Beijer, GOT Siemens, Allen Bradley HMI’s, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Allen Bradley, and Omron PLCs
• Assisting with software design for production reports by integrating PLC systems with office applications
• Conducting full electrical commissioning of developed systems both on-site and on premises
• Rectifying electrical issues and modifying panels to meet changing requirements
• Training customers on the operation of installed systems
• Addressing customer queries during and after project warranty periods
• Taking individual responsibility for project aspects or collaborating on team projects
• Assisting other engineers' projects or responding to customer breakdowns at short notice
• Undertaking other reasonable duties to support company operations

What do you need?

• Experience in software design and development for PLCS’s including Siemens & Allen-Bradley
• HNC qualification (or equivalent)
• Previous experience on projects for automated machinery
