Are you a Geotechnical Engineer or a Senior Geotechnical Engineer looking for a new opportunity in the North West? My client are a Geotechnical Consultancy providing design and consultancy services to both private and public sector clients. The company's diverse portfolio includes Residential, Commercial, Civil, Ground Investigation and includes both Permanent and Temporary Works design. Projects vary in size from refurbishments to multimillion pound new builds.
With an expanding long-term pipeline of work, the team are looking to recruit a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join on a permanent basis.
Role & Responsibilities
·Specify & undertake site walkover surveys, inspections, and site investigations in order to inform the geotechnical/geoenvironmental design of suitable solution(s).
·Schedule, assess and interpret a wide range of geoenvironmental and geotechnical testing.
·Produce a wide range of drawings, specifications, reports and other project documentation in line with company and client requirements, as well as any relevant national standards and codes of practice.
·Independently drive routine projects, and complete non-routine projects with technical guidance and support.
·Participate in the resolution of technical issues.
Qualifications & Experience
·Degree in a relevant subject (and ideally, an MSc/MEng in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology).
·Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience working on either Residential, Commercial or Industrial projects.
·Experience in ground investigation design and implementation.
·An understanding/experience of geotechnical design principles, for some/all of the following:
oFoundations (shallow and deep)
oRetaining walls (gravity and cantilevered)
oSlope stability assessments
oSoil nails and/or grouted rock anchors
oEarth embankments, cofferdams
oReinforced earth.
·Experience using AutoCAD would be an advantage.
·Previous experience of working for an SME consultancy would be an advantage but not essential.
Other
·Team player, self-starter and problem solver with a "Can-do" attitude.
·Flexible to travel in the UK and carry out site visits/fieldwork/inspections/supervision.
·Full and valid driving licence.
·Looking for progression and training opportunities - GSL operate an ICE approved training scheme to support and mentor staff towards Chartership.
