The basics:

Job Title: Continuous Improvement Engineer - Process Engineer

Salary: Up to £50000 DOE

Location: Alfreton

Environment: Manufacturing/Production - medium to heavy engineering/machinery

Role: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday - Days (Flexible hours)

Team Structure: You will be supported by x2 process engineers, one of which is a junior member of the team and currently working through their degree/education, whilst the other has 20 years' experience with the plant machinery but with no formal Continuous Improvement methodology background.

Overview:

With manufacturing sites located across the UK and EU we now require a Continuous Improvement Engineer - Process Engineer to join the business.

You will be tasked to identify the root cause of production and machinery issues and implement changes to improve the processes using your mechanical engineering appreciation and background.

Working closely with a team of process engineers and presenting your findings to the MD - your role will be to effectively present and communicate how the company can improve.

Key responsibilities of the Continuous Improvement Engineer - Process Engineer role:

  • Support and liaise with all manufacturing personnel to aid the successful resolution of issues in daily manufacturing activities (process and technical).
  • Maintain, develop and optimise key processes, including evaluating data and monitor site processes and systems.
  • The maintenance and upkeep of process technical specifications and control documents.
  • Evaluate metrics, discover areas for improvement, take corrective actions, monitor and validate changes/upgrades.
  • Train and support production employee's process understanding, technical knowledge and competency.
  • Actively participate in, or facilitate, root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
  • Plan and organise trials, communicate presentations and technical reports when required.

The ideal candidate / Continuous Improvement Engineer - Process Engineer may have some of the following, however, please note these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be looked at individually:

- Previous experience working in a continuous improvements focused role within a automated production/manufacturing environment or similar

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with all colleagues at all levels.

- Experience of real time data monitoring and process evaluation.

- Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to identify, to assess and solve problems including the facilitation of root cause analysis (RCA).

- Experience in the use of continuous improvement and lean tools and techniques with the ability to persuade others to change existing practices.

- Six Sigma qualification would be considered advantageous.

- Team building, coaching skills
