Piping Designer

Inside IR35

Hybrid working

12 month contract

Accountable as Lead for the functional discipline of Piping and Layout on assigned projects.

Accountable for delivering safe, fit for purpose piping designs to an agreed schedule and agreed budget.

Working with external design centers in achieving low cost solutions in design and execution.

Maintaining good communication and relationships with external design centers, to achieve seamless interaction and project completion.

Maintaining good relationships and communication with upstream functions within the Operations engineering group.

Developing design reuse strategies and products.

Project engineering role assignment potential for small piping based single discipline projects.

On site supervision of piping and equipment construction, supervising contractors and completing Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI's).

DIMENSIONS

  • Responsible for delivering Conceptual and final piping design packages on projects.
  • Expert in field of Piping and Layout.
  • Providing support to AP engineering centers as execution requires.
  • Support European and Middle East Bid and proposal requests.
  • Mobile to support multi center execution and project support.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety adherence to relevant specifications and standards for all piping designs
  • Accountable for Piping and layout design and engineering scope
  • Developing conceptual piping design and detailed piping design on projects.
  • Model development in SP3D and leading model reviews internally and externally.
  • Deliver piping design packages.
  • Deliver Bid Plot plan layouts and studies as requested.
  • Effectively communicate execution strategies, schedule issues and project requirements.
  • Support Opportunity providing all required documents, estimates, functional strategy, functional deliverables.
  • Issue project quality functional deliverable/activity list and function execution strategy.
  • Interfaces with other leads engineers to ensure handoffs between departments are planned and fully understood.
  • Ensures design basis adheres to the appropriate Air Products Engineering Procedures, Engineering Standards and Specifications, country and regulatory codes, and customer requirements.
  • Assists with reviews and approvals of engineering changes when proposed.
  • Acts upon approved design changes made by other functional groups.
  • Before commencing activities ensure have all inputs and requirements to allow activity to proceed.
  • Ensures design output references to codes, standards, specifications.
  • Ensures quality deliverables from their department are delivered to the project.
  • Complies with all Company issued work process and work instructions
  • Drive to competitive under budget performance.
  • Raise and communicate changes to scope/basis.
  • Site attendance when required for inspection and or survey
  • Global travel to operating plants for meetings and reviews or as required by the project.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A min of Higher National Certificates in relevant subject with around 7-10 years of piping design experience.
  • Must be familiar with an engineering organization, the function of each discipline and how they interact and the function of the various support groups.
  • Hands on experience of SP3D / PDS Piping software and associated modules
  • Should have experience of developing basic and detailed plant layouts
  • Construction experience in planning for installation and access of equipment.
  • Should have experience of leading piping design and development of 3D model and leading model reviews.
  • Experience of design verification of piping design and knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Modularized design experience and skid design experience is desirable.
  • Experience of both Pipe supporting and Piping stress work process
  • Experience and knowledge to effectively communicate issues and ideas effectively.
  • Experience managing contractors on site, maintaining safety and zero accident goal.
  • Good written and spoken English and strong communication skills

Must be able to travel with Europe & Middle East
