Project Supervisor (Mechanical)

Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Project Supervisor to work with a Derbyshire-based Local Authority on a temporary contract with an initial duration of six months. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week (Mon – Fri).

Main Duties:

  • Be the Councils technical specialist for mechanical engineering, overseeing compliance, servicing, and projects involving: heating, hot water generation, hot and cold water services (including managing quarterly water hygiene control tasks), air conditioning services, commercial kitchens
  • Oversee mechanical engineering services and construction project delivery and prepare reports, estimates, specifications, drawings and works schedules for quotations or tendering.
  • Oversee a programme of lift inspections and ensure that all in use lifts are thoroughly examined by competent person at specified intervals in accordance with legislation, COP’s or other relevant standards maintaining all records to the same.
  • Ensure that all defects noted in such examinations are rectified in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that the Council comply with all relevant legislation necessary to ensure the safe operation of Lifts.
  • Direct a programme of inspections, risk assessments, effective lift maintenance and repair that ensures that lifts are available and safe for use.
  • Responsible for setting the design and quality specification for the Councils building construction and maintenance projects ensuring projects are delivered to the required specification, quality and budget.
  • Checking work onsite and signing off following snagging.
  • Check mechanical test certification and/or commissioning certification to ensure council properties comply with mechanical and British Standard regulations. Make site visits to council properties to survey or check installations.
  • Manage the completion and handover of council building contracts.
  • Provide a lead role in the programme planning, resource planning, budget planning, quality of service and value for money of the sections projects..
  • Prepare, manage and monitor the project budgets. Be responsible for budget management of your allocated projects, reporting regularly on financial position and ensure projects are delivered in the most cost effective, efficient way. Provide high accountability for the effective use of considerable financial resources.
  • Ensure all property and construction work carried out by the Council complies with relevant statutory legislation, codes of practice and professional guidance documents.

Essential Criteria:

  • Chartered Mechanical Engineer: MIMechE.
  • Experienced in delivery of construction projects.
  • Experienced in lift inspections.
  • Experienced in corporate estate compliance and relevant legislation.
  • Experienced in asset management.
