Astute's Renewables team is exclusively partnered with a growing leader in the Anaerobic Digestion and Agri/Farming sector, with a commitment to professional development and sustainability to recruit a Health and Safety Manager for its Wisbech site.

The strategically important Health and Safety Manager role comes with a salary of £45,000, hybrid working routine(2 days on site) and pension.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Managing Director you will:

  • Foster and uphold a positive Health and Safety (H&S) culture in alignment with company objectives.
  • Lead on Health and Safety audits and reporting, conducting investigations into accidents or near misses, ensure findings are communication to all employees and actions are taken to prevent further incidents.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures adhere to legal and industry requirements, and are effectively communicated and embraced.
  • Lead efforts in continuing record keeping, documenting site specific RAMS, toolbox talks, health and safety reports, audits and more.
  • Implement and address requirements concerning DSEAR, PSSR, Confined Spaces, LOLER, PUWER, and Non-Conformance reports.
  • Develop, modify and/or maintain emergency procedures.
  • Lead regular safety meetings with all employees and teams.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external entities such as the HSE, insurers, external auditors, and certification bodies.
  • Maintain precise records of all safety-related activities, incidents, inspections, and training programs.



Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in Health and Safety Management in a farming, waste, manufacturing, construction or other kind of process engineering/industrial environment.
  • Experience in Anaerobic Digestion environment would be a strong advantage but is not essential.
  • NEBOSH qualified.
  • A WAMITAB is desirable but not essential.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and rolling out new H&S procedures or standards.
  • Internal and external stakeholder management experience.
