Senior or Principal Transport Planner (Development Planning)

My client is now looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced transport planner at Senior to Principal Consultant level to join their development planning team based in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic individual with exceptional transport planning skills and specialist knowledge of transport for development, including analysis and assessment experience. Importantly you should have experience of supporting the delivery of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Master Plans and other technical reports to support planning applications and other transport related projects. They expect the right candidate to be experienced in:
·Managing sizeable projects to scope and budget and maintaining relationships with both public and private sector clients.
·Supporting in negotiations with Local Authorities and other regulatory bodies.
·Applying the appropriate technical standards (such as Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets and Local Authority Design Guides).
·The application of industry standard junction capacity assessment software such as Junctions 10 and LinSig, preferably including experience of larger network modelling.
·Preparing fee proposals for new projects.
·Inspiring and developing less-experienced members of staff by freely sharing knowledge.
·Contributing to other projects across the advisory group as required.
 
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:
·Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to communicate well.
·Good technical writing skills and a sound working competence in the use of MS Office products (including Excel and Word).
·Ability to work effectively in an unsupervised environment, leading a piece of work or working within a project team.
·The ability to manage team resources as well as to mentor junior staff.
·A degree in an analytical subject such as engineering, geography, mathematics or similar.
·Membership of a relevant professional institution (CIHT, TPS etc)
