Our Client, a World recognised and respected Automotive OEM Manufacturer based in rural Warwickshire, are actively seeking an experienced Lead Material Planner to join their highly successful team with immediate effect on initially a 6 month Contract basis (Inside IR35), albeit with likelihood of extension at the end of this term. On offer to the successful candidate is a competitive, albeit negotiable hourly rate, based on relevant experience.

As the Lead Material Planner, your role is to schedule and control the supply of components/materials to meet immediate production requirements and forward production programs consistent with attaining target stock levels. You will also need to be aware of all factors that affects or may affect availability of use/fitment for all parts controlled.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:
  • You will maintain Excel trackers to ensure material availability supports production plan
  • Updating and maintaining the tracker with shipment details and receipt details. Positively confirm shipments and transport lead times to then populate predicted delivery dates into the company.
  • Communicate parts status, predicted delivery dates and highlight any issues that would affect the production plan.
  • Attend vendor calls as necessary to address any performance issues and to confirm deliveries are on track.
  • Ensuring tier 1-tier 2 schedules are robust to ensure material requirement dates are achieved.
  • Ensuring replacement parts are ordered and monitored.
  • Co-ordinate any special transport requirements.
  • Ensure the loop for returnable packaging is maintained between the manufacturing site and vendors.
  • Work with programme teams on model year changes / new models.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Should ideally be educated with a Degree or HND in a relevant subject, although plenty of relevant experience will be considered.
  • You will need to be experienced in Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L), ideally also with Automotive industry exposure.
  • Should ideally have worked previously at a more “senior / lead” level in Materials, Planning and Logistics.
  • Should have the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, together with the ability to work accurately and efficiently, taking resourceful action during periods of considerable pressure.
  • Computer Literate essential.
It’s great if you also have the following:
  • Automotive components experience is desirable.
  • An awareness of a Production System / Lean Manufacturing would be an advantage.
