Maintenance Engineering Manager

Our client, one of the UK’s premier manufacturers of civil and construction steel products is looking Maintenance Engineering Manager to work within their manufacturing facilities in the Newport area. With a wide range of products our client is able to give total solutions to its customers needs as well as offer to each customer a level of unparalleled service and technical back up. The key to this role is ability to manage and control work within a fast-moving production and manufacturing company who supply into the construction industry, maintaining and fault finding on a range of electrical and mechanical systems and controls including drives, motors, control panels, single and three phase and PLC’s. Although Electrically or Mechanically biased you will manage a team so therefore be happy to give a helping hand to the electrical and mechanical engineers with hydraulics, pneumatics, cutting and bending machines and machine shop equipment.

The Role                                                 

These roles are responsible for the control of the maintenance team and repair of all electrical and electro-mechanical equipment within our client’s facilities. Electrical knowledge of 3 phase electrical, motors, drives, controls, PLC’s required and if possible some basic mechanical exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics or bearings. The roles require applicants who have managed reactive and proactive maintenance and repair experience as well as fault finding experience. This is a heavy engineering type of roles and require applicants to work on a Monday to Friday basis only.

The Person

Applicants will preferably have present or previous management experience of electrical and electro-mechanical maintenance and repair teams or departments. Applicant with fault finding experience would be ideal. Understand the need for compliance to standards, health and safety, quality, productivity and continuous improvement techniques. Applicants should have present knowledge of fault finding and repairing manufacturing production equipment, although the industry may be different training will be given. Applicants should be suitably qualified within electrical engineering ideally for the role16/17/18th edition, time served but should ideally be multi-skilled.
